Eternal Life

Eternal life's more than a phrase

for never-ending nights and days.

It’s much more than an inner peace,

in which our souls will never cease.

This kind of life indeed abides

within the heart where Christ resides,

but knowing God and knowing Christ

defines the true eternal life.

For as we come to know our Lord,

we find eternal life's reward.

Come Unto Me

After all your toil and labor

when you're tired as you can be

then Jesus gently whispers

"Child, come unto Me.."

He takes your heavy burdens

as you come to be His guest

for Jesus speaks so softly

"Let Me give you rest.."

As you come to rest in Him

throughout the darkened night

you'll find His yoke is easy

and His burden is so light..

Cradle to the Hearse

 The things we strive and long for

  from cradle to the hearse.

These treasures that we cling to

  can often make life worse.

We may call them blessings when

  they're really the reverse..

When they become our idols

  such treasures are a curse.

Come Dear Lord

Come sit with us, Dear Lord,

that all we say and see be led,

not by us, but by You instead,

be revealed in the broken bread.

Come sit with us, Dear Lord.

Come walk with us, Dear Lord,

beside us in the morning light,

set our hearts and minds aright.

May You become our sole delight.

Come walk with us, Dear Lord.

Come stay with us, Dear Lord,

when shadows deepen into night,

wrap our souls in mercy’s light,

and hold us gently by Your might…

Better Ending

Life can throw a wreck your way
and shake you for a while,
but nothing on this broken road
can dim your precious smile.

The blame that wasn't yours will pass;
the truth will rise in time.
Don't let this moment weigh you down-
in no time you'll be feeling fine.

Your spirit’s made of stronger stuff
than metal, fear, or doubt.
And seeing your great smile again,
we just can't live without.

So lift your head, breathe deep, hold on;
for brighter roads are up ahead.
This chapter isn't who you are,
a better ending will be yours instead.

Forgive me Lord

Forgive me Lord for sins long past,
and those for which I haven't asked.
Forgive me when I neglect to pray;
instead, desiring my own way.

Forgive the many times I've lied,
and covered up my sins with pride.
Forgive my failures, great and small,
and even those I don't recall.

Cleanse my soul from head to toe.
In everyway help me to know-
You're the Savior of every sin,

every sin that has ever been.

Composing my Soul

My eyes are not haughty,
  my heart is not proud.
I'll shun all things worldly, 
  confusing and loud. 

May I learn to rest only
  in God's loving grace,
composing my soul in
  His warmest embrace. 

May we all hope in God,
  both now and forever,
through triumph, trials, 
  and every endeavor.

Unbelievably

He's unbelievably faithful
  and yet still I believe.
He's unbelievably generous,
  yet still I receive.

He's unbelievably gracious,
  even when I am not.

He's unbelievably caring,
  when I'm most distraught.

He's always near and loving,
  in times of greatest grief.
Lord, You know I do believe,
  but help my unbelief.

One Act of Love

 If each day were distinguished

  by at least one act of love,

we might find that over time

  we're graced from up above.. 

Loving acts could multiply,

  til all we say and do, 

born in the love I'm speaking of,

  in God's own point of view.

God is loving and always kind,

  so we should act the same-

start out with one, always done

  in love and in His name.

You, He'll Never Forget

Our Lord loves like no other
  and you, He'll never forget,
so trust in Him, my brother,
  for He hasn't failed us yet.

As the world turns, it may fall,
  but this one truth I know -
the very One who made it all,
  will never let us go.

Walking with Jesus

Sit at the feet of Jesus,

  hear what He has to say,

then keep yourselves in His love

  by reminding yourself all day..

That you are always welcome

  to return and sit at His feet,

to shed your fears, share your tears,

  and bask in communion sweet.

Walk in the steps of Jesus,

  follow wherever he goes,

the path may be a hard one my friend,

  with few highs and too many lows..

Just know, He'll never leave you,

  He'll walk with you step by step.

On each road, He'll lighten your load,

  saving each tear that you've wept.

Stand in the truth of Jesus,

  hide His Words in your heart,

think of them throughout the day,

  even when things fall apart..

His Words give life, love and light-

  without them we cannot stand.

So be assured by His Holy Word,

  and walk with Him hand in hand.

Dawn of a Misty Morning

In the dawn of a misty morning, 
  I sense a still small voice within, 
with an eye of infinite tenderness, 
  watching over me once again. 

Of this I'm sure, He's always there
  with hand to guide, to love and care,
but this day is unlike the others
  or maybe I'm now more aware? 

His love's magnified in my soul, 
  a nearness I've not felt in years.
He's drawing me close despite myself,
  in the joyful rain of my tears. 

His love follows throughout the day,
  singing over me through the night.
I do not know why He loves me so, 
  but I'll bask in His tender delight.

Embrace this chance

Embrace this chance to be with Me,

to seek My face, for I always shall be..

with you, for you, above and within you,

and always shall be through eternity.

Though storms may assail, I'll not fail

to love, guide you, be right beside you.

Embrace, draw near, fear not this place-

use this alone time to seek My face!

Words I'm Saying

Not always sure of the words I'm saying,
the feelings I feel or the part I'm playing.
But this I do know and firmly proclaim-
God great love remains just the same.

When there's no words, no part, no feeling,
He lovingly lavishes mercy and healing.
So when I'm not sure, to Him I'll cling,
then rest and sing to my heavenly King!

Lose myself in Thee

Oh that I might lose myself
  and all my works of dust,
to then become so lost in Thee-
  my everlasting trust.

Be closer than the air I breathe-
  my heart and soul's desire.
Let me lose myself in Thee,
  within Your Holy Fire!

May Thy Word's eternal light
  fill every passing scene;
may Thy love within prevail,
  till Thou alone art seen.

Lighten my Darkness

Be the light in my darkness, O Lord,

  a torch in the black of my night. 

Be living breath in the valley of death, 

  that Your glories burn ever bright. 

When I'm weak, make me stronger, 

  when I'm down, cheer my heart.

Always guide me, dwelling inside me,

  and from me, Lord, never depart.

Each New Day

How senseless and ignorant often I turn,
making the ways of the world my concern.
Then after the pain from each evil event,
I beg for forgiveness and try to repent.

It seems I'm now caught in a cycle of sin-
I'm clean for a season, then sinning again.
Thank God, despite my valleys and trails,
with each new day, His love never fails.

Let your Heart go Forth

Let your heart go forth to meet Him,
  wherever you range or roam..
    Whether here or there,
      in depths of despair,
    or so far away from home.

Let your heart go forth to meet Him.
  Lay down your burdens and rest.
    He's always near,
    sees every tear,
  and calls you to be His guest.

If you have God

If you have God, you have all things,

and without God, you have nothing-

nothing on earth of value or worth, 

and nothing worth even discussing.

But if you have God living within, 

there's no greater eternal treasure-

love and light, its depth and height 

exceeds anything you can measure. 

Unexpected Jesus

Come Thou unexpected Jesus,
  surprise us with Your presence.
May Your Spirit fall afresh-
  Your Holy, Blessed essence.

Come Thou to live within us,
  invade the deepest parts,
keep us by Your loving grace
  and heal the hardest hearts.

Come, though we're unworthy,
  whether morn or afternoon.
Come when least expected-
  we're hoping that it's soon.
